Partner Spotlight: Southwest Airlines
At Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP), we know that a few choice prizes can go a long way to motivate a successful nonprofit fundraising campaign. That’s why we’ve partnered up
with Southwest Airlines, which has generously donated airline ticket vouchers for the winners of the last four campaigns on our nonprofit crowdfunding site, HIPGive.org.
Thanks to Southwest, FIVE lucky (and hardworking!) nonprofits were treated to round-trip flights anywhere in the United States.
One of these groups was Washington D.C.’s San Miguel School. During the “Adelante Hermanos” campaign in September 2015, San Miguel created a crowdfunding project on HIPGive.org, called “Youth Leaders Today, Tech Leaders Tomorrow,” that aimed to raise $5,000 to integrate iPad’s into its Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs serving low-income students in D.C. The school not only raised more than 2.5 times that amount; due to its outstanding social media campaign, it also won the Southwest competition!
San Miguel’s staff used Southwest’s vouchers to fly across the country to California, where they visited schools doing similar work in San Jose and San Francisco and attended HIP’s 2016 Leadership Conference Convening and HIPGiver Gala. Maria-Rose Cain, who leads marketing and donor relations for San Miguel, noted that, without the airline voucher, “as a small school in Washington D.C. that serves low-income students, we would have never had the ability to take that trip and establish relationships with such a wide range of great people doing similar work.”
HIP is proud to partner with Southwest Airlines to bolster the success of the awesome nonprofits that crowdfund on HIPGive.org!
